Take off the band aid

A wound needs to be cleaned first

OPEN WOUNDS – JUST TAKE OFF THE BAND AID

A wound heals from the inside out. When you put a band aid on a raw open wound without cleaning it, and stitching it up, the wound cannot heal properly.

PHYSICAL WOUNDS AND EMOTIONAL WOUNDS

Emotional wounds are very much the same as physical wounds and needs just as much attention, love and care. Many times in our lives, we put an emotional band aid on and proceed to go on with life while hurting under that emotional band aid. When you take off the band aid and treat it, it can certainly heal.

I HAD MANY WOUNDS

When you don’t treat your emotional wound, it will either explode some day or you will slowly die inside. I know, because it happened to me. Every time something bad happened to me like my Fathers death as well as that of my husband, I just put more band aids on the wounds without cleaning and treating it. The same thing happened when a close friend betrayed me and broke the trust between us.

THE WOUND BURST OPEN

When I could no longer keep the raw bloody wound closed under the band aids, the wound started oozing and then it just burst open, leaving me in a lot of pain, anger and resentment.

HEALING ISN’T A QUICK FIX

Healing my emotional wounds took about 5 years. I first of all had to open the wounds completely, cleaning it out and sit a bit with the pain while dealing with it. Then the hard work started and nobody but you can really heal it and it takes time and effort from your side.

ALCOHOL, BAND AID AND OTHER

Alcoholics numb their emotional pain with alcohol, over eaters numb their pain with food, unhappy married women numb their pain by having a baby and so the list goes on and on. All these only numbs the pain however it doesn’t take it away.

YOU CAN DO IT

Looking back on the 5 years it took me to heal, the only regret I now have, is that I didn’t start sooner with the healing process. It does take hard work on your side but you won’t believe how good it feels when you no longer hurt and you no longer depend on emotional band aids.
