5 things for good brain health. Our brains are important to our overall health therefore our brains needs some exercise too even when we are young and health – especially then. So let’s talk about brain health.

5 things for good brain health – There are no particular order – everyone are important in order for us to maintain a healthy brain. These are my favourites

Physical exercise

We might get fed-up hearing about exercise, but there are no arguing about the benefits of exercising. It does not have to be on an Olympic level – brisk walking for twenty minutes or so in the outdoors will help a lot. While walking outside you get the benefit of Vitamin D as well as physical exercise.

Reading

It is shocking how many people do not like to read. Reading however is a good way to keep your brain focused and healthy. The right reading material is essential though. While novels have a place in reading, it is the fact based reading that will keep your brain from dying. Reading about something like climate change and remembering what you read helps your brain to stay in top condition. While you practice fact based reading, you have the additional benefit of learning.

Meditation

Meditation is very much underrated. Some people have a negative view of meditation due to religious beliefs. You do not have to be religious in any shape or phone. The purpose of meditation is to quiet your mind and focus on your breathing. It could be as little as 3 minute meditations throughout the day.

Brain exercises

There are several ways to exercise your brain:

  • Remember things like phone numbers and memorize it
  • Focus when people talk to you especially when they tell you their names
  • There are a game that are taught to children where they are shown 9 pictures where after the pictures are turned upside down. Every time when they are then given a new picture they must match the picture with the originals. This game is also good for adults to play

Food

Junk food is not the best option when you want to maintain good brain health. Fresh fruit and vegetables however are very good for our physical and brain health.
